Each month we shout about one of our incredible partners. For March, we got the opportunity to talk to Pokéos about the launch of their new and improved website.

Capturing the sheer scale of Pokémon’s impact on gamers may seem like an impossible task. Not to the creators of Pokéos, an all-encompassing database, builder, generator, news source, even a Who’s that Pokemon quiz. They took on the mammoth task of documenting Pokémon in all forms of media, from the beloved game franchise, to the classic card decks, all the way to the anime series. Read on to find out about the new features that are now available to Pokéos users.

What drove you to create your website? Did you see a gap in the market for this type of website?

“The inception of Pokéos less than two years ago was quite an organic one, officially taking root last year without any expectations. Initially, it was a project meant to compile all information from the latest Pokémon games in a simple and elegant way – something no other site or account was doing at the time.

“We were met with immediate and positive feedback from the community, which spurred us to develop a comprehensive site. As the site evolved, so did our vision, and now we boast one of the most complete databases available, with all game sprites, international and Japanese TCG sets.

“We’ve also got a suite of handy tools such as a Pokédex tracker for each game, a TCG tracker, a practical team builder, and much more. Despite many competitors with years of experience, none offer what we do, and the support from the community throughout the development of Pokéos v2.0 has confirmed this!”

How has your audience impacted your experience as a site owner/gamer?

“Our audience has played a pivotal role in our growth and that of the site. We’ve consistently received amazing support and kind words from everyone, which has not only delighted us but also fueled our determination to realize what Pokéos is today.”

What’s one of your favorite aspects of managing your website?

“There are two distinct aspects that we deeply cherish: the thrill of adding new tools/sections, which we truly enjoy as it brings new valuable content to the community, and the gratification of seeing people appreciate the work we’ve done. As you can imagine, there’s an immense amount of effort behind the scenes!”

What are you most proud of in regards to your website?

“At the moment, the most rewarding aspect has been the completion of our databases. It was the most challenging but also the most impactful. We’ve amassed a total of 400,000 assets and images and have managed to create a comprehensive and navigable database.

“We’ve received significant support from FedeFade with the integration of his personal project, ForgottenDex, which focuses on creating missing, unreleased, or special Pokémon forms. This includes all sprites from every game, including beta releases and variations in renders across game updates. Our TCGdex is another great achievement, where users can track all their cards from every set!”

Do you have any advice for website owners who are just starting out?

“Our advice for new website owners is simple: embark on this journey only if you’re passionate. Pokéos is shaping up the way it is because we’re building it primarily for ourselves. We’re crafting the Pokémon site we always wished existed. This was our dream site, so we’re putting our all into realizing our dream and, consequently, that of many other Pokémon enthusiasts.

“We’ve been working tirelessly on the new version since August, and if not for the community’s support and our resolve, we might have abandoned the idea because it’s been quite strenuous, but it has been so worth it!”
