With the launch of Borderlands 4, we figured there’s no better time to catch up with our friend and partner Levin, the mastermind behind Lootlemon. When Levin first dove into the world of Borderlands, he quickly realized how much false and outdated info was floating around online, and decided to do something about it. That’s how Lootlemon was born. These days, it’s a must-visit site for every Borderlands fan—from newcomers eager to level up their knowledge to seasoned pros crafting the perfect builds.

What inspired you to start your site, and what was the first big “win” that made you feel like you were onto something?

“Optimizing builds in games has always been one of my passions. Back in 2019, when I started learning web development, I found myself diving deep into the newly released Borderlands 1 Enhanced. I remember feeling completely overwhelmed — the information was scattered across the internet, often outdated or just wrong. Once I understood how to craft and optimize my own builds, I realized how frustrating it was to check false claims over and over. That’s when the idea for Lootlemon was born: a place that simplifies the theory-crafting process for Borderlands players by providing accurate, easy-to-use tools and information.

The first big “win” was when I implemented Google AdSense and made my first €100 within a month or two. It suddenly clicked that this idea could actually scale — that Lootlemon could grow into something much bigger.”

Running a site can be a wild ride. What’s one unexpected challenge you’ve faced, and how did you overcome it?

“One of the biggest challenges early on was finding the right ad partner. I tried several networks, but none really fit the site’s needs or values. Then Publisher Collective reached out, and the partnership just made sense. Three years later, I can confidently say it was the right choice — they’ve been reliable, transparent, and genuinely supportive of Lootlemon’s growth.”

What’s your favorite part of the day-to-day work you do on your site, and what’s something people might not realize goes into it?

“What I love most is the variety. I get to switch between coding, designing, researching, and exploring game mechanics — it keeps things exciting.

What many people don’t see is how much behind-the-scenes testing, data verification, and UX refinement goes into every update. It’s not just posting content; it’s engineering an experience that feels effortless to the player.”

What advice would you give to someone thinking about launching their own site today?

“Start with something you genuinely enjoy. Passion is what gets you through the long hours and unexpected setbacks. If you love what you’re building, perseverance comes naturally.”

What’s next for Lootlemon?

“Right now, I’m deep in content creation for Borderlands 4, which is keeping me incredibly busy. Beyond that, I’m working on adding new features that bring even more value to the Borderlands community — tools that make theory-crafting smarter, faster, and more fun.”

How has working with Publisher Collective helped your site grow or evolve?

“They’ve helped me understand the ad world — what really drives revenue and how to optimize for it. Through their guidance, I learned how factors like user engagement, impressions, and geographic audience distribution can make a big difference.”

Is there anything we’ve done in particular that you’ve loved?

“I’ve really enjoyed the livestreams with experts you’ve hosted. It’s great to see that kind of thought leadership. And I also appreciate the quick response times on Slack — communication has always been smooth and supportive.”
