Last week, the gaming world descended into the annual hype of Summer Game Fest 2026, and it did not disappoint.

From wild deep-space isolation to highly anticipated returns to psychological horror and cyberpunk streets, the showcases delivered a stacked lineup for the next 12 months.

Whether you are a PC, console or, a handheld gamer, the collective announcements from the SGF main stage and the PC Gaming Show gave us a plethora to unpack and dive into.

We’ve put together our round-up of a few of the biggest reveals (honestly, too many for us to mention here, so well worth checking out the video at the bottom of this blog!), major trailers, and games you can jump into right now.

The Heavy Hitters

If there was one overarching theme to Summer Game Fest 2026, it was that tension and terror are back in a big way.

Resident Evil - Code: Veronica: Capcom is continuing its legendary streak of revivals, but with a massive twist. The remake of the 2000 classic is shifting from its original fixed-camera perspective to an immersive first-person view. The trailer started with a deceptive, snowy trip to Paris before plunging players right back into the nightmare.

Alien: Isolation 2: Eleven years after the original set the gold standard for survival horror, Creative Assembly shocked the audience by confirming the sequel is officially real. This time, players escape the Sevastopol station only to face the Xenomorph on the surface of a storm-ravaged colony world.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin: Developed by PlatinumGames (Bayonetta), this adaptation of the famous graphic novel throws away the colorful, pizza-eating antics of the turtles for a bleak, gritty story of vengeance. Players will control the last surviving turtle in a combat-heavy, emotionally grounded adventure.

The Auteur Returns & Paranatural Sequels

The showcase also gave us long-awaited updates on titles led by some of the industry's most celebrated creative directors.

gen Atlas: From Fumito Ueda, the visionary creator behind Ico, Shadow of the Colossus, and The Last Guardian, we got a deep dive into gen Atlas. True to his signature style, the game boasts an incredible sense of scale where players appear to pilot gigantic robots from detachable heads, blending monumental sci-fi action with delicate emotional nuance.

Control Resonant: Remedy Entertainment took the stage to pull back the curtain on the next chapter of the Federal Bureau of Control. Stepping outside of the Oldest House, Control Resonant takes place in a warped, paranatural Manhattan. This time around, players will step into the shoes of Dylan Faden, Jesse’s brother. The game is locked in for a September 24, 2026 release date.

1666 Amsterdam: The new historical fantasy project from Patrice Désilets (the creator of Assassin's Creed) blends witchcraft and time travel. Players will fight demonic forces by switching between two protagonists: a witch named Noa, and a cat named Aaron. PC players don't have to wait to try it, a 30-minute prologue demo is live right now on Steam and the Epic Games Store ahead of its Early Access launch later this year and I for one, cannot wait for this game.

PC Gaming Show 2026: Nostalgia Meets Innovation

The PC Gaming Show celebrated over 60 games and dropped more than 20 world premieres (that’s right, 20!), making it a dream event for gamers.

Thief: The Dark Project Remaster: Nightdive Studios is working its magic on yet another classic. The studio revealed a full remaster of the foundational first-person immersive sim. Garrett is back, relying strictly on shadows, agility, and evasion rather than direct combat to navigate medieval cathedrals and castles.

Stronghold 4: In massive strategy news, Firefly Studios officially unveiled the 10th entry in the legendary castle-building franchise. Built in Unreal Engine 5, it retains the classic isometric perspective while introducing deep economic loops, weather effects, and day-night cycles that dictate how you build and defend your fortresses. A Steam demo drops in a few weeks on June 23.

Dave the Diver: In the Jungle DLC: MINTROCKET is expanding its indie mega-hit next week, on June 18 with a story-driven expansion that takes Dave into a freshwater jungle environment, adding roughly 10 hours of brand-new mechanics, minigames, and fish to catch.

What’s playable right now?

Whilst 2027 is feeling a little too far away, you can load up something new right now…

The event released some shadow-drops and instant demos:

  • Exo Rally Championship: The new rally game from the creators of the indie hit Exo One was a surprise launch during the show and is available to purchase and play on Steam immediately.
  • SAND: Raiders of Sophie: The open-world title launched a server slam during the event, ahead of its full launch next week (22nd June).
  • Sunset Summit: Personally, I love chaotic co-ops and this does not disappoint. The demo for this 1-to-8 player mountain climbing game is available on Steam right now.

Final Thoughts: A Stacked Calendar Ahead

From the tactical action of Crossfire to the steampunk charm of Clockwork Revolution, the surprise gameplay reveal of Kingdom Hearts 4 over at the Nintendo Direct portion of the week, and the long-awaited release of GTA VI the industry is showcasing a veritable feast for gamers. Making this second half of the year jam-packed and I’m really excited to see what comes out of Gamecom in August.
