Partner Spotlight: Loot Level Chill

Every month we love showing off one of our amazing partners. This month we’re putting the spotlight on LOOT LEVEL CHILL who have been working with us since June this year.
LOOT LEVEL CHILL is a relatively new, UK based and independent gaming-specific editorial site.
They are community led and driven, with a focus on celebrating gaming culture, offering guides, and promoting fair and honest news and reviews.
We caught up with Editor Adam Cook for a catch-up and to understand more about the journey the site has taken and what’s next for them!

1.We know running a site can be wild, with its ups and downs and all the curveballs that come your way! Can you share with us one unexpected challenge you’ve faced, and how did you overcome it?
"Honestly, the most unexpected hurdle at first was getting Google to play ball. So much of that seems automatic to people, but it almost feels like you have to prove to Google you're real, and not going anywhere. The process was difficult, and not clear to understand overall, and there's very little support from the company outside of pre-written help pages. To overcome it required hard work, patience, and frankly, doing more hours than you should need to."
2. What’s your favorite part of the day-to-day work you do on your site, and what’s something people might not realize goes into it?
"I truly enjoy interacting with our audience on Discord/Patreon, and as a bit of a spreadsheet nerd, I kinda like organising things behind the scenes. The common misconception is always "you play games all day", and the truth is that networking, communication in general, and organising is the best way to make sure things run smoothly."
3. What advice would you give to someone thinking about launching their own site today?
"Think carefully about the reasons you're considering it. Try not to purely rely on chasing trends or SEO, or following what other companies do. Be yourself, and trust that the internet is a very big place and that your audience will find you. The best thing about being independent is you don't have to do anything you don't want to. Enjoy what you do as much as you can, as life is very short."
4. How has working with Publisher Collective helped your site grow or evolve?
"The team at Publisher Collective has been helpful from day one. Assisting with valuable knowledge regarding search engines. Insights from outside our site such as studying demographics and metrics has helped us massively understand things, and be calm for the future."
5. Is there anything we’ve done in particular that you’ve loved?
"The team has been so patient with us. Publisher Collective offered us ways to provide advertising without making the site a difficult user experience. Rather than suggest "put ads everywhere", the team offered solutions that were bespoke to our publication, and that never affected the legibility of the site."
6. Is there anything you’d want us to work on or that you think would be the “cherry on top”?
"Not really, there's nothing more I could have asked for from a partner."
